Taxes Replaced by GST

GST-Goods and Service Tax, is a destination based tax on consumption of goods and services. In this article we will discuss what are the indirect taxes will be replaced by GST.

GST is set to replace various taxes as mentioned below:

Taxes levied and collected by the Centre:

  1. Service Tax
  2. Central Excise duty
  3. Duties of Excise
  4. Additional Duties of Excise
  5. Additional Duties of Customs (CVD)
  6. Special Additional Duty of Customs (SAD)
  7. Central Surcharges and Cesses so far as they relate to supply of goods and services

Taxes levied and collected by State :

1.State VAT

2.Central Sales Tax

  1. Entry Tax
  2. Entertainment and Amusement Tax
  3. Luxury Tax
  4. Taxes on lotteries, betting and gambling
  5. State Surcharges and Cesses so far as they relate to supply of goods and services
